JOSEPH K AND THE COST OF LIVING
by Emily White
Saturday 31 May to Saturday 7 June 2025
Mary Wallace Theatre
One story, four lives - navigating a twisted maze of discrimination and survival
"Somebody must have made a false accusation against Joseph K, for he was arrested one morning without having done anything wrong" - Franz Kafka, The Trial.
Emily White's adaptation intertwines the torments of discrimination and injustice with the perplexities of modern-day living and delivers a witty and physical take on Kafka's classic. Joseph K is split into four diverse characters, facing parallel experiences, and all battling to survive the nightmares within the big bureaucratic machine.
